To extend the life of crack filling and to make the repair look better, we recommend that significant cracks go through a two step process.

Opened up by a mechanical router to create a 3/4 in. x 3/4 in. reservoir and cleaned of all loose materials

Then inject filler material at a consistent temperature (This requires a kettle and a hand ladled approach just isn’t adequate, so make sure you know the type of equipment your contractor has).

The benefit: Greater surface area for the filling to grab onto, and the filling will become flush with the other paved surface around it (rather than a temporary bump on top of it.) Snow plows easily scrape off poorly adhered crack fill sitting on top of the surface, and wasting your money.
